Fan Blender

Fan Blender

Flat ferrule, spread hairs. Natural hair is more suitable for soft blending, and synthetic works well for textural effects. Useful for smoothing and blending, special effects and textures.

Fan brushes can be made wih straight bristles, but the best are made with flagged, curved bristles. Depending on the type of work you do, this brush is either seldom used or totally indispensable. Without a doubt, these brushes work best when used dry, so if you intend to do a lot of blending you may want to have several on hand.

White bristle fan blenders are primarly used to modify oil paint that has already been applied to the canvas. Used dry, they can soften edges, eliminate brush strokes for a smooth modeled look, or lend side by side colors. They can also be used for special manipulations in representing hair, foliage, and other fine, soft details.
